The ridge vent with the exclusive,
wind-activated valve!
This ridge vent eliminates the problem of wind-driven rain
and snow blowing into through the vent. X5's
wind-activated, weather impenetrable AWS (active weather
foil) valve is permanently
attached to the bottom layer of X5's material. The
valve is engineered to close at 10 MPH (± 3 MPH). The leading (windward) edge of the
valve, which is shaped like an airfoil, catches the wind blowing at it and snaps shut. Meanwhile, on the downwind (leeward) side of the vent, the lift or draw caused by airflow over the ridge is busy exhausting hot, moist air from the attic. This is true, whether the wind is blowing directly at the ridge, or from an angle. Below 10 MPH, the valve opens completely for positive ventilation from both sides of the vent.
This valve works to block any weather from entering through the vent’s flutes.
