Year 2004 saw Florida and nearby
states as the unfortunate recipient of at least three major hurricanes. This
has made for brutal testing grounds for roofs of all types. Here are
some of the things we have learned from this year's batch of hurricanes:
-
Asphalt shingles, as we
already knew, were the most susceptible to damage and blow-offs during
the hurricanes. For proof, see this
page.
-
Roofs of heavy cement tile
and clay tile
suffered major damage in many areas, since wind was able to get under
and blow them off. Those homes, as well as neighboring homes,
sustained structural damage due to the flying tiles. Clay and
cement tiles
became dangerous flying projectiles that caused damage to homes and
other objects in their path.
-
We saw many examples of
competing brands of standing seam roofing peeled back or torn off in
places due to high winds. Additionally, we found many instances
where our standing seam roofing withstood the winds with absolutely no
failure.
-
Since much of the damage
caused by this year's hurricanes was inflicted on roofing, we are
finding more and more homeowners and businesses choosing our
stone-coated steel roofing. While cost for steel roofing is a
bit more at the onset, it is important to remember that our roofing is
proven and guaranteed to withstand 120 mph winds.
-
We have heard many stories
this season about how a particular hurricane destroyed every roof in
certain areas, except for the roofs covered in our stone-coated steel
roofing! To hear one family's story, visit
our Testimonials page.

Attention
Gulf & Atlantic States Homeowners... |

If you have lost all or part of your
roofing during one of the recent hurricanes, we can offer
a great suggestion for a temporary fix.
Our roofing underlayment, Titanium UDL, is a synthetic
underlayment that, once installed, can be left uncovered
for up to 6 months. Until a roofer can repair your
damage, we suggest covering your damaged roof with
Titanium UDL. Doing so will cover your entire roof
and prevent leaks. This will buy you some time until
your roof can be properly repaired.
And when it comes time for new roofing, we hope you will
consider our Stone-Coated Metal Roofing. It is built
and warranted to withstand 120 mph winds, and should
eliminate all chances for blown-off roofing in the future.
Call KBS Metal Roofing, and we will be happy to help you
find a solution to your roofing problems. |
