Limited Warranty
warrants to the original consumer purchaser (‘Consumer”) that its roofing shingles (‘Shingles”) are free from
manufacturing defects that affect shingle performance. The Warranty
Period commences upon completion of the Shingle application and
expires at the end of the Warranty Period applicable to the type of
Shingles installed. |

Remedy
Should the Shingles be otherwise than as warranted during the Warranty Period,
will pay to the Consumer the prorated reasonable
cost of repair or replacement of the Shingles, up to
these
limits:
Maximum repair or replacement cost to
shall be the replacement cost of the defective Shingles, including labor (exclusive
of metalwork, flashing or other related work), if the Shingles have been installed for less than twelve months. If the Shingles have been
installed for twelve months or more, the reasonable replacement cost
will be reduced by a percentage which is based on the number of
months elapsed in the Warranty Period divided by the original
Warranty Period. In all cases, the extent of repair or replacement
required and the reasonable cost of such repair or replacement will be
at the sole discretion of .
will not pay the costs to tear-off or dispose of your Shingles.
A monetary settlement as described above will be the only remedy available to the Consumer for defective Shingles. |
Gerard's Warranty is
simple: 100% replacement of roofing materials for the life of
the warranty.
(All of our competitor's asphalt warranties are pro-rated and don't
include removal of the old shingles, and is good only for a roof of
the same brand).
Also, Gerard Metal Roofing has
no words like "reasonable", "reduced" or
"sole discretion" in their warranty - only 100% protection! |
Wind Resistance
20- and 25-year warrantied Shingles classified as ‘Wind Resistant” shall be resistant to wind damage,
after thermal sealing has taken place, at wind velocities up to 60 miles per hour only during the
first five years after installation. 30- and 40-year warrantied Shingles classified as ‘Wind Resistant” shall be
resistant to wind damage, after thermal sealing has taken
place, at wind velocities up to 80 miles per hour only during the first five years after installation.
All Shingles containing a strip of thermal sealing asphalt must be subjected to warm sunlight for several days before full sealing will
occur. Shingles installed in the fall or winter may not seal until the following spring.
Shingles which do not receive direct sunlight or which are not exposed to adequate
surface temperatures may never seal. This is the nature of shingles and failure to seal under such
circumstances is not a manufacturing defect.
In cases where
determines that thermal sealing should have occurred and did not due to a manufacturing defect,
will be liable only for the reasonable cost of replacing blown off Shingles and the reasonable cost of manually sealing the
unsealed Shingles remaining on the roof. |
Gerard's wind warranty is simple: We guarantee our shingles to withstand 120 mph
winds for the life of the warranty! We proudly back it up in
writing!
Gerard has an interlock that maintains the 120-mph
warranty from day one of installation in any weather or
temperature. No thermal sealing is required with
Gerard metal
roofing. Immediately after proper installation, they
will withstand 120-mph winds. Our shingles can be
installed in any season. Our shingles will always seal
tightly, even on the shady, cool side of your home.

Limitations on Coverage
This Warranty does not apply to and shall not be liable for: |
| (1)
Failure of any product used on the roof except
those expressly covered by this Warranty and
manufactured by . |
(2)
Damage to the Shingles due to causes beyond normal
use and service including, but not limited to:
| a. Acts of God, including without limitation, hail storms |
| b. Wind
velocities greater than 60 miles per hour on
20- and 25:year warrantied Shingles; and
wind velocities greater than 80 miles per hour on 30- and 40-year
warranted Shingles. |
| c.
Traffic on the roof or impact of failing
objects. |
| d.
Improper storage or misuse of the Shingles. |

| (3)
Damage to the Shingles caused by inadequate
ventilation or roof drainage. Minimum ventilation requirements are one square foot net free ventilating area per 150 square feet of space ventilated. For clarification or further

| (4)
Damage to the Shingles caused by alterations made
after completion of application; including, but
not limited to, structural changes, equipment
installation, painting, or the application of
cleaning solutions, coatings, or other

| (5) Damage to the Shingles caused by settlement of the building, buckling or cracking of the roof deck, walls, or foundation. |
| (6)
Variations in the color of the Shingles which may occur from the natural positioning of the granular surfacing material. |
| (7)
Any cost incurred for repair or replacement not authorized in writing by
. |
| (8)
Damage to the Shingles due to any cause other than manufacturing defects in the Shingles manufactured by
. |
| (9) Damage to the Shingles due to improper fastening of the Shingles, faulty application or application not in strict accordance with
's printed application instructions. |
| (10) Damage to the Shingles due to defects in, or
failure or misapplication of materials used as a
roofing base over which the Shingles were applied. |
| (11)
Discoloration caused by algae, fungi, lichens or
cyanobacteria. |
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY INCLUDING WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR USE OR PURPOSE, AND WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE EXPRESS WARRANTY PROVIDED HEREIN UNLESS A SHORTER PERIOD IS
PERMITTED BY LAW SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR FOR DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING, ITS CONTENTS OR ITS OCCUPANTS. THIS WARRANTY CONTAINS ALL OF THE PROVISIONS OF YOUR REMEDIES FROM

Simply stated: We do not have limitations. Limitations are
ways to get out of a warranty.
Item #2a: The Gerard Warranty INCLUDES Acts Of
God.
Item #2c: Gerard metal roofing is warranted against granular
loss.
Item #3: FACT: Did you know that if your home has a cathedral
ceiling, you have what our competitor considers to be
"inadequate ventilation" (see item #3, at left), which therefore
INSTANTLY VOIDS your asphalt roofing warranty. This can be a
very unwelcome surprise! With Gerard metal roofing no
attic ventilation is required. Therefore, you still have a
warranty with our product! We
warranty our roofing even if NO ATTIC VENTILATION is
installed.
Item #10 at left is of importance if you are planning to roof over
your old roof. Item #10 basically states that the warranty
could be voided if you apply their (the competitor's) shingles over
an old layer of shingles.
Our warranty is unaffected by this. In fact, we
RECOMMEND putting our stone-coated metal roofing over your old roof!
In doing so you are adding an air space which will help insulate
your roof.
Item #11: Our shingles will not grow black algae that could cause
discoloration.

Replacement Shingle Variations
reserves the right to discontinue or modify any of its Shingles, including the color thereof, without notice to the Consumer and shall not be liable to the Consumer as a result of any such discontinuance or modification,
nor shall
be liable in the event replacement Shingles may vary in color in comparison to the original Shingles as a result of normal
weathering. If
replaces any Shingles under this Warranty, it may substitute Shingles designated by
to be of comparable quality or price range in the event the original Shingles purchased are no longer available. |
With a Gerard Stone-Coated
Metal Roof, any replacement is done for the entire life of the
Warranty (lifetime).
Gerard metal roofs have ceramic glass granules that are warranted
not to fade for 20 years. New shingles will always
match the old shingles since the color is man-made. |
Notification of Claims
Claims pursuant to this Warranty must be submitted in writing, together with proof-of-purchase of the Shingles and application date, to
within 30 days after discovery of the alleged defect to Shingles. Notice to your contractor or dealer is NOT notice to

If you have a Gerard Steel
Roof, you are 100% protected for the life of the warranty, plus the
warranty is transferable.
Roofing your home is a major investment. Whether you
ultimately choose our roofing or our competitor's, we do hope that
